'Drive' Soundtrack Headed For Vinyl Release

Last year's cult hit is scheduled to be released on vinyl via Invada, the Bristol-based label owned by Portishead's Geoff Barrow. The soundtrack is to hit the streets on 21st May.

The original soundtrack was one of the most praised aspects of the film, which featured Ryan Gosling as a stuntman/getaway driver and was released last year to generally rave reviews. Featuring original music by Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx, Cliff Martinez, The Chromatics, Desire and Riziero Ortolani, amongst others, the soundtrack's digital release sold impressively well upon the film's release.

"I am very excited for Invada Records to release the Drive soundtrack on vinyl," said Barrow of the release. "It is nice to see good music allowed to play a pivotal role in a great film."

THE LONESOME SAVAGES - "All Outta Love" EP 7" (Turk 009)

The Lonesome Savages are a Madison band featuring members of DEAD LUKE as well as ex-members of ZOLA JESUS. The first thing you'll notice about this release is Max Elliott's unmistakable howl, which you might recognize from his solo work on Sacred Bones Records. Alongside it you've got Dead Luke's searing leads (also from Sacred Bones Records along with Florida's Dying, Sweet Rot and Moon Glyph), and the original collaborator with his then-girlfriend (now ex-girlfriend), Nika/Zola Jesus. They've created a punkabilly masterpiece that teeters on Crampsesque infatuation but never really comes across as ripping them off. Just honest 50's inflected rock n roll revamped with elements of the current garage punk sound. This thing is loud as hell and the production straddles the line between blown out madness and vintage rock n roll warmness. The 7"'s digital download comes with an added 2 track solo digital single from Dead Luke! One unreleased track plus his cover of Suicide's "Ghost Rider"! Limited to 350 hand-numbered copies so they WILL go fast! First 100 are on color vinyl and available exclusively from the label directly.

WHISKEY MAKER ROLLS OUT ONLINE PROGRAM TO GET FANS HOME SAFELY AFTER THE SHOW AND DEBUTS NEW RESPONSIBILITY-THEMED TV CAMPAIGN WITH ZAC BROWN BAND

Jack Daniel's Drinking School Featuring Zac Brown Band Aims to Inform Consumers About Responsible Consumption

LYNCHBURG, Tenn., March 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack Daniel's announces that it has started a "drinking school," and it's not what most folks will think it is.

In fact, the "Jack Daniel's Drinking School" is a new way to educate consumers about responsible consumption through an on-line based program (www.jackdanielsdrinkingschool.com) that provides helpful tips and reminders. Jack Daniel's is also debuting its new television campaign featuring two-time GRAMMY Award winners and multi-platinum artists Zac Brown Band sharing a message of loyalty and responsibility among friends and band members.

As part of a recently-formed partnership with Zac Brown Band, the Jack Daniel's Drinking School will offer concertgoers the opportunity to register for free designated-driver rides to and from select Zac Brown Band concerts in cities across the U.S. through BeMyDD. To receive one of the 100 free rides per eligible concert market, consumers must watch one of a series of online videos featuring the Zac Brown Band reminding folks to enjoy themselves, but to also take care of themselves as well as those around them. The videos are supplemented with information from leading expert organizations on responsible consumption and fighting drunk driving including The Century Council. Those who receive a free ride can also bring along up to three friends, ensuring the safety of many concertgoers as well as making the roads safer for others.

"Our emphasis on responsible consumption is incorporated into all of the ways we communicate with our friends across the country," said Jack Daniel's Senior Brand Manager Jennifer Powell. "The Jack Daniel's Drinking School is a great vehicle for this message and further proof of how strongly we feel about responsibility."

In addition to the free rides, the Jack Daniel's Drinking School offers concert attendees at select Zac Brown Band tour stops the opportunity to register as a designated driver for the evening of the show. Upon arrival at the concert venue, registered designated drivers can stop by a predetermined site to receive a Jack Daniel's Drinking School keychain and armband signifying their willingness to get their friends home safely following the show.

"Our partnership with Jack Daniel's provides concertgoers with a responsible solution to safely get to the show and back home," said BeMyDD President and CEO Arthur Simanovsky. "By letting BeMyDD do the driving, consumers can enjoy the evening with the peace of mind that they've made the responsible choice."

In addition to the Drinking School, Jack Daniel's is launching a national television campaign which includes a spot in which Zac Brown reminds viewers to "Protect Your Band" just as he and the rest of his crew feel it's their responsibility to take care of each other. The spot includes scenes of the band playing together and conveys a feeling of loyalty for those around you and love for what you do.

"THE KENTUCKY DERBY IS DECADENT AND DEPRAVED BY HUNTER S. THOMPSON" Set for Release on 429 Records/ Paris April 3rd

All Star Cast Including Tim Robbins, Dr. John, Bill Frisell, Ralph Steadman, Annie Ross And Others Bring Author's Masterpiece To Life With Music And Narration

"This is it. This is pure Gonzo!!"—Bill Cardoso

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- 429 Records through an exclusive license with Paris Records, is set to release "THE KENTUCKY DERBY IS DECADENT AND DEPRAVED BY HUNTER S. THOMPSON"—featuring an all-star cast of musicians and actors led by Tim Robbins, Dr. John, Bill Frisell, Ralph Steadman, Annie Ross, John Joyce III and Will Forte who bring Thompson's classic Gonzo reportage on the 1970 Kentucky Derby to life through spoken word and musical composition. Conceived by executive producer Michael Minzer, the project was produced by Hal Willner who brought together a stellar group of musicians led by composer and arranger Bill Frisell and including Curtis Fowlkes (trombone), Ron Miles (trumpet), Eyvind Kang (viola), Doug Weiselman (woodwinds), Jenny Scheinman (violin), Hank Roberts (cello) and Kenny Wolleson (drums, percussion). Ralph Steadman does double duty portraying himself in the narration and contributing original artwork for the project. "THE KENTUCKY DERBY IS DECADENT AND DEPRAVED BY HUNTER S. THOMPSON" will be available on April 3rd.

In 2005, Paris Records founder Michael Minzer called up his friend Hal Willner with the idea of recording a definitive performance of an all time classic piece of journalism, "The Kentucky Derby Is Decadent and Depraved." Originally published in Scanlan's Monthly in June of 1970, it's the quintessential example of Hunter S. Thompson's uniquely humorous and piercing insight—the article that inspired the term Gonzo Journalism (coined by the late Bill Cardoso). Minzer and Willner had collaborated before on several "wide open" tributes to such literary luminaries as Allen Ginsberg's "The Lion For Real", William S. Burrough's "Dead City Radio" and Terry Southern's "Give Me your Hump!." Hal was friends with Ralph Steadman who's involvement was a major boost in getting the project off the ground. Hal also was able to enlist Tim Robbins as lead narrator and Bill Frisell to oversee the music and the project was off to the races so to speak.

Says Michael Minzer: "The big challenge was to match Bill's sharply drawn moody vignettes with the perfect segments of a very long reading. When we realized that it all worked out beautifully, Hal just said 'I told you I had worked on this!''

Says Tim Robbins: "I couldn't be more thrilled to be a part of this project—who could say no to such an opportunity to toast the king of Gonzo journalism? It's been a great pleasure diving into the chaotic, genius prose of Hunter and I feel flattered to be working with such a stellar group of creative folks like Hal Wilner, Ralph Steadman, Bill Frisell and Michael Minzer who made it come alive so brilliantly."
